Apple recipes are definitely a staple for the fall season every year. Usually we think of desserts first - like apple crisp, apple pie, apple cake.
But there are so many different ways to prepare apples and enjoy them as a snack, in a main dish, beverage, or salad, too.
Today we are going to start off with an apple crisp recipe since it's always fun to try dessert first! And this apple crisp recipe only has 8 ingredients between the filling and the topping, so it's easy to put together and have ready to throw in the oven in about 15 or 20 minutes.
One of the tricks to easy apple recipes is having good kitchen utensils for prepping apples - apple slicer, apple peeler, corer, and good knives for easy dicing.
For the apple crisp, I like to use crisp granny smith or honeycrisp apples for a good texture after baking. To make an 8-x-8-inch dish of apple crisp, we'll use 3 to 4 apples (or a little more - as you prefer). After peeling, coring, and slicing the apples, lay them into the baking dish and sprinkle with a little bit of cinnamon and sugar.
Next, in a small saucepan, melt some butter; then remove from heat and stir in brown sugar, sugar, oats, flour, and a little milk or cream until all is thoroughly combined.
Scoop this topping onto the apples in the baking dish (it may not completely cover all the slices). Bake in a 350 degrees F oven for 45 minutes or until topping is lightly browned. Serve warm with some ice cream or cold milk and enjoy! (See entire detailed, printable apple crisp recipe.)
