Near the end of September, October is upon us, and that means it is Oktoberfest time! Did you know Oktoberfest in Munich draws millions of people each year to their celebration of the German culture and food? Since you may not be able to get to Munich this year, how about hosting your own Oktoberfest party complete with Oktoberfest menu full of German dishes to celebrate? And don't forget a little Polka music for original flair, either!
Oktoberfest Party Ideas
1. Consider having your party outdoors if the weather is nice - set up a small pop-up tent with colorful banners or keep it simple with a colorfully decorated picnic table and chairs.
2. Use bright colors for decorating - blue and white (checkered, of course) for the State of Bavaria colors or go with the traditional black, red, and gold of the German flag. Keep things as simple as colorful napkins, table runners, and flowers, or go all out and add banners, balloons, and costumes!
3. Enjoy a little Polka music, play kazoos, or round things out with some accordion tunes - sure to bring a smile to faces!
4. Lastly, serve up some traditional German food fare.
