Number of Servings:
Ingredients:
- 4 cups - whole wheat flour at room temp.
- 2 envelopes - rapidrise yeast
- 2 teaspoons - salt
- 1 1/2 cups - warm water
- 1/4 cups - milk
- 1/4 cups - honey
- 3 tablespoons - butter or margarine
- 1/2 cups - wheat bran
Directions:
Combine 2 cups whole wheat flour, undissolved yeast and salt in a large bowl. Heat water, milk, honey and butter until very warm (120 to 130 degrees F). Add to flour mixture. Beat 2 minutes at medium speed of electric mixer, scraping bowl occasionally. Add 1/2 cup flour and wheat bran; beat 2 minutes at high speed. Stir in remaining flour to make a stiff batter.
Place in a greased 9-by-5-inch loaf pan. Cover; let rise in warm, draft-free place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Bake 45 minutes or until done. Remove from pan; let cool in pan for 15 minutes before removing to cool on wire rack.
