Vintage Heavenly Hash

Ingredients:

  1. 1/2 cups - Graham cracker or cornflake crumbs
  2. 2 tablespoons - Sugar
  3. 3 tablespoons - Butter Softened
  4. 1 envelopes - (1 T.) Unflavored gelatin
  5. 1/2 cups - Sugar
  6. 1/4 teaspoons - Salt
  7. 1 2/3 cups - Crushed pineapple (fr. a 20-0z. can)
  8. 1 packages - 8-oz. cream cheese Softened
  9. 1 cups - Whipping cream

Directions:

1. Combine crumbs w/ the 2 T sugar and butter, mixing well. Reserve 2 T for topping.
Press remainder of crumbs firmly in bottom of an 8-in. square pan. Chill.

2. Mix gelatin, 1/2 C sugar and salt thoroughly in saucepan. Drain pineapple syrup into gelatin mixture; cook and stir until gelatin dissolves. Cool slightly.

3. Beat cream cheese until smooth and soft; stir in gelatin mixture and pineapple.

4. Whip cream to soft peaks stage, then fold into the cream cheese mixture. Spread in the crumb-lined pan and sprinkle w/ reserved crumbs. Chill until firm.

5. Cut into wedges after chilled and serve.
