Upside-Down Apple-Spice Cake

Ingredients:

  1. 1/2 cups - butter
  2. 2/3 cups - packed light brown sugar
  3. 1 cups - chopped toasted walnuts
  4. 1 1/2 pounds - apples (about 3 large ones) peeled, chopped
  5. 1 boxes - Betty Crocker Super Moist spice cake mix
  6. - water, vegetable oil and eggs called for on cake mix box

Directions:

1. Heat oven to 350 degrees F. In a 13-x-9-inch pan, melt butter in oven. Sprinkle brown sugar and walnuts over butter; stir to combine. Sprinkle chopped apples into pan.

2. Mix cake as directed on box for 13-x-9-inch pan, using water, oil and eggs. Pour batter over apples and walnuts in pan.

3. Bake 35 to 40 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool on cooling rack for 2 minutes; run knife around sides of pan to loosen cake.

4. Place heatproof serving plate upside down on pan; turn plate and pan over. Remove pan. Serve cake warm.
