Ingredients:
- 4 tablespoons - chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoons - basil
- - salt to taste
- 1 cans - kidney beans
- - white or brown rice or macaroni for serving with
- - fat free cheddar cheese, fat free Greek yogurt, chili peppers for garnish
- - cooking spray
- 2 - large onions minced
- 4 cloves - garlic minced
- 2 pounds - ground turkey (or lean ground beef)
- 1 cans - crushed tomatoes large can
- 1 cans - water
- 2 - green peppers minced
- 1 teaspoons - celery seed
- 1/2 teaspoons - cayenne pepper
- 2 teaspoons - crushed cumin seed
- 2 - small bay leaves
Directions:
Heat skillet, add onions & garlic, saute with cooking spray until golden. Add meat and brown. Drain well.
Transfer to large sauce pan, add remaining ingredients and bring to boil. (Or place everything in the crock pot and cook on low all day.)
Reduce heat, and simmer uncovered until thick as desired - about 2-3 hours or more.
Serve with white/brown rice or macaroni. Garnish with fat free cheddar cheese, fat free Greek yogurt, chili peppers.
