Turkey Chili

Ingredients:

  1. 6 tablespoons - oil or spray skillet with Pam
  2. 2 - large onions minced
  3. 4 cloves - garlic minced
  4. 2 pounds - ground turkey (or lean ground beef)
  5. 1 - large can crushed tomatoes
  6. 1 cans - water
  7. 1 cans - kidney beans
  8. 2 - green peppers minced
  9. 1 teaspoons - celery seed
  10. 1/2 teaspoons - cayenne pepper
  11. 2 teaspoons - crushed cumin seed
  12. 2 - small bay leaves
  13. 4 tablespoons - chili powder
  14. 1/2 teaspoons - basil
  15. - salt to taste

Directions:

Heat skillet; add onions and garlic; sauté until golden.

Add meat and brown; drain well.

Transfer to a large sauce pan; add remaining ingredients and bring to a boil (or place everything in the crock pot and cook on low all day).

Reduce heat and simmer uncovered until thick as desired, about 2-3 hours or more.

Serve with white/brown rice or macaroni. Garnish with fat-free cheddar cheese, fat-free Greek yogurt, chili peppers, etc.
