Ingredients:
- 6 tablespoons - oil or spray skillet with Pam
- 2 - large onions minced
- 4 cloves - garlic minced
- 2 pounds - ground turkey (or lean ground beef)
- 1 - large can crushed tomatoes
- 1 cans - water
- 1 cans - kidney beans
- 2 - green peppers minced
- 1 teaspoons - celery seed
- 1/2 teaspoons - cayenne pepper
- 2 teaspoons - crushed cumin seed
- 2 - small bay leaves
- 4 tablespoons - chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoons - basil
- - salt to taste
Directions:
Heat skillet; add onions and garlic; sauté until golden.
Add meat and brown; drain well.
Transfer to a large sauce pan; add remaining ingredients and bring to a boil (or place everything in the crock pot and cook on low all day).
Reduce heat and simmer uncovered until thick as desired, about 2-3 hours or more.
Serve with white/brown rice or macaroni. Garnish with fat-free cheddar cheese, fat-free Greek yogurt, chili peppers, etc.
