Ingredients:
- 1 cups - Thinly sliced onion
- 3 tablespoons - Vegetable or canola oil
- 4 cans - 14 to 16-oz. cans tomatoes
- 3 cans - (or 4) 14 1/2-oz. can kidney beans
- 4 tablespoons - Chili powder
- 2 tablespoons - Sugar
- - Salt, to taste
- - Pepper, to taste
- 4 whole - Garlic cloves Peeled
- 10 strips - Bacon
- 2 pounds - Ground round
Directions:
Saute onion in the oil until tender. Add tomatoes, beans, chili powder, sugar, salt, pepper & garlic.
Fry bacon until crisp. Remove bacon, crumble and reserve. Brown ground round in the bacon drippings.
Add the meat to the tomato mixture. Add the crumbled bacon and simmer about 2 hours.
Remove the garlic cloves and serve.
