Number of Servings:
Ingredients:
- 1 packages - active yeast (about 2.5 teaspoons)
- 1 cups - warm water
- 1 teaspoons - sugar
- 1 teaspoons - salt
- 2 tablespoons - oil
- 2 1/2 cups - flour
- 12 ounces - pizza sauce (Hunt's Mushrooms or Garlic & Herb spaghetti sauce works well)
- - favorite toppings such as sausage, pepperoni, peppers, olives, tomatoes
- - shredded mozzarella cheese
Directions:
Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.
Dissolve yeast in warm water. Stir in remaining dough ingredients, and beat well with a spoon or fork if not using a mixer. (You may need to add a little more flour depending on your elevation. I usually add all but the last 1/2 cup and keep adding until it's just sticky enough that dough does not stay on my fingers).
Let rest 5 minutes. Separate dough into 2 balls for 2 mini pizzas (or make 1.5 times the dough recipe to make a full jelly roll pan sized crust). Roll out the dough with a rolling pin, sturdy glass or cup (a rolling pin is difficult to use in a jelly roll pan anyway).
Put some sauce on the center of the pizza and spread out almost to the edges. (This is a great task for the kids to help with). Add any veggies or toppings you (or the kids) like on the pizza. Next, add the cheese on top of all.
Bake in preheated oven for 20 minutes or until crust / cheese is starting to brown.
