Ingredients:
- 2 - eggs
- 2 cups - sugar
- 2 cups - flour
- 1/2 cups - buttermilk
- 1 teaspoons - baking soda
- 1 teaspoons - vanilla
- 1 teaspoons - salt
- 2 sticks - oleo (margarine)
- 3 tablespoons - cocoa
- 1 cups - water
- 1 sticks - oleo (margarine)
- 3 tablespoons - cocoa
- 1/3 cups - milk
- 1 teaspoons - vanilla
- 1 pounds - confectioners' sugar (powdered sugar)
- - chopped nuts optional
Directions:
For Cake:
Mix by hand in a large bowl the eggs, sugar, flour, buttermilk, soda, vanilla and salt.
In a saucepan bring to a boil the oleo, cocoa and water. Pour over dry ingredients and mix well.
Pour into greased and floured pan. Bake at 350 degrees F for 30 to 35 minutes.
For Icing:
Meanwhile, melt oleo, cocoa, milk and vanilla together. Remove from head and add powdered sugar; add nuts, if desired.
Frost cake while still warm.
