Spiked Caramel Sippers

Ingredients:

  1. 3/4 cups - sugar
  2. 6 tablespoons - heavy cream
  3. 2 cups - whole milk
  4. 3 tablespoons - Frangelico (hazelnut liqueur) OR rum
  5. - whipped cream for serving with
  6. - chopped toasted hazelnuts optional, for garnish

Directions:

In a saucepan, cook sugar with 3 tablespoons of water over medium heat, stirring lightly until golden, about 8 minutes. Whisk in the cream; set aside 2 tablespoons of this caramel mixture.

Whisk milk and liqueur into saucepan. Simmer over low heat, whisking until warmed through and frothy.

Divide mixture among mugs, topping with whipped cream, reserved caramel and nuts, as desired.
