Ingredients:
- 8 ounces - spaghetti
- 4 - cooking onions (or large Vidalia) chopped
- 2 tablespoons - to 4 tbsp. butter
- 4 stalks - celery chopped
- 1 1/2 pounds - ground beef (I mix lean and medium)
- 20 ounces - canned tomatoes
- 1 teaspoons - salt
- 1/2 teaspoons - pepper
- 1 tablespoons - sugar, honey or maple syrup
- - fresh basil leaves or dried basil to taste
- 1 1/2 cups - grated sharp cheddar cheese
Directions:
Cook pasta al dente – then drain.
Saute onion, celery and add ground beef until browned.
Add tomatoes, salt & pepper, sugar & fresh basil and simmer for 15 minutes.
Use one large casserole dish or separate into two; add spaghetti and grated cheddar cheese together with seasoned tomato sauce and mix well. I usually add extra cheddar on top.
Bake for 20 minutes at 375 degrees F.
This can be frozen, being sure to seal it well.
