Sourdough Starter

  1. 1 packages - 2-1/2 tsp. yeast
  2. 2 1/2 cups - lukewarm water
  3. 2 cups - all-purpose flour
  4. 1 tablespoons - honey
  5. 3/4 cups - all-purpose flour
  6. 3/4 cups - water
  7. 1 teaspoons - sugar


Stir together yeast, warm water, flour and honey. Stir 2 to 3 times each day for 10 days.

Refrigerate until ready to use.

Measure out 1 cup of mixture to start sourdough bread. Takes longer for rising, but taste is phenomenal.

Once a week after drawing off 1 cup of mixture for bread, stir in the weekly add-in amounts of flour, water and sugar. Stir to incorporate the fresh ingredients and let stand at room temperature for 1 day, stirring 2-3 times during the day.

Refrigerate until ready to use.
