Sour Cream Coffee Cake or Placek

Ingredients:

  1. 1 tablespoons - sugar
  2. 1/2 - large yeast cake
  3. 1 cups - sour cream
  4. 1 cups - warm milk
  5. 1 cups - flour
  6. 5 1/2 cups - flour to 6-1/2 cups
  7. 1/2 pounds - butter
  8. 1 cups - sugar
  9. 1 teaspoons - salt
  10. 3 - egg yolks
  11. 3 - whole eggs
  12. 1 teaspoons - vanilla
  13. 1/2 cups - soft butter
  14. 3/4 cups - flour
  15. 1 3/4 cups - sugar

Directions:

Mix together Sponge ingredients and let rise, covered, for 30 minutes.

For bread, melt butter; add sugar, beaten eggs, sour cream and 2 cups of flour (sifted) with salt. Then add the sponge mixture and 2 cups of flour (more or less flour according to eggs).

Knead well about 2 minutes. Cover and let rise 1-2 hours until doubled.

Divide dough evenly and place into 3 or 4 buttered bread pans; cover and let rise again for 1 hour or until dough is rounded over the top.

In a small bowl, combine Crumb Topping ingredients with a fork or pastry blender until crumbly. Put on top of loaves.

Bake in moderate oven (about 325° F) for about 55 minutes or judge by your own time.
