Rolled Buttercream Fondant

Ingredients:

  1. 1 cups - Light Corn Syrup
  2. 1 cups - Shortening
  3. 1/2 teaspoons - Salt
  4. 1 teaspoons - Clear Vanilla Extract
  5. 2 pounds - Confectioner's sugar
  6. 1 cups - Light Corn Syrup
  7. 1 cups - Shortening
  8. 1/2 teaspoons - Salt
  9. 1 teaspoons - Clear Vanilla Extract
  10. 2 pounds - Confectioner's sugar

Directions:

1. In a large bowl, stir together the shortening and corn syrup. Mix in the salt and vanilla flavoring, the gradually mix in the sugar until it's a stiff dough. If you are using a stand mixer, use the dough hook attachment. Otherwise, knead by hand. If the dough is sticky, knead in more sugar until it's smooth. Store in an airtight container at room temperature or in the refrigerator.
2. To use, roll out on a clean surface that has been dusted with confectioner's sugar until it's 1/8in thick or thinner. Drape over frosted and chilled cakes and smooth the sides down, or cut into strips to make bows and other decorations.
