Rich Beef and Tomato Ragout

Ingredients:

  1. 1 - onion peeled, finely chopped
  2. 3 cloves - garlic peeled, finely chopped
  3. 1 - red chili deseeded, thinly sliced
  4. 1 teaspoons - ground cinnamon
  5. 1 3/4 pounds - extra lean ground beef
  6. 1 cups - grape tomatoes halved
  7. 1 cans - 14 oz. chopped tomatoes
  8. 2 3/4 cups - rutabaga peeled, cut in bite-size pieces
  9. 1 tablespoons - beef bouillon
  10. 8 tablespoons - finely chopped basil
  11. - salt and pepper
  12. - basil leaves to garnish
  13. - cooked rice or noodles for serving with

Directions:

Spray a large non-stick skillet with Pam cooking spray and place over medium heat. Add the onion, garlic, and red chili and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes.

Add the cinnamon and ground beef and stir-fry for 3-4 minutes longer; drain away any excess liquid. Stir in the tomatoes, rutabaga, bouillon, and chopped basil and bring to a boil.

Season well, cover tightly and cook over low heat for 20-25 minutes.

Garnish with basil leaves if desired. Serve with rice or noodles.
