Ingredients:
- 1 cups - Quaker Oats (quick or old-fashioned) Uncooked
- 1 cups - All-purpose flour
- 1/3 cups - Grated Romano or Parmesan cheese
- 1 tablespoons - Baking powder
- - 3/4-1 tsp. Coarsely ground pepper
- 1/2 teaspoons - Baking soda
- 2 tablespoons - Fresh or freeze-dried chives (optional) Chopped
- 3 tablespoons - Margarine
- 3/4 cups - Buttermilk
- 1 whole - Egg white Slightly beaten
Directions:
1. Heat oven to 450.
2. Combine first seven ingredients; mix well.
3. Cut in margarine until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
4. Add buttermilk, mixing just until moistened.
5. Turn out onto lightly floured surface; knead gently 10 times.
6. Pat dough into rectangle about 1/2-in thick; cut into 4 X 1/2-in. strips w/ sharp knife.
7. Place on an ungreased cookie sheet; brush tops w/ egg white.
8. Bake 10-12 min. or until golden brown. Serve warm.
