Ingredients:
- 1 tablespoons - Olive Oil
- 1 whole - Onion Diced
- 1 whole - Garlic clove minced
- 1 pounds - Lamb or beef
- 3 cups - Canned tomatoes Crushed
- 1/4 cups - Chopped parsley
- 1/2 teaspoons - Oregano
- 1 teaspoons - Cinnamon / salt&pepper
- 4 cups - Macaroni or ziti
- 1 cups - Yogurt
- 3 tablespoons - Grated romano cheese
- 1 whole - Egg lightly beaten
- 1/4 cups - butter sauce
- 1/4 cups - flour sauce
- 2 1/4 cups - Milk sauce
- 1/2 teaspoons - nutmeg sauce
- 1/4 cups - Romano cheese sauce
Directions:
1. In a large non-stick skiller, heat the olice oil over medium heat. Cook the onion and garlic until the onions are soft. Add the lamb and cook until no longer pink.
2. Add the crushed tomatoes, parsley, oregano, and cinnamon. Simmer for five minutes. Add salt and pepper to taste.
3. While the meat is simmering, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the pasta until just barely tender - drain. Combine pasta with the yogurt, romano cheese and egg.
4. Place half of the past mixture into the bottom of a shallow greased casserole dish. Spoon half of the meat mixture over the top. Repeat with the pasta and meat mixture (Note that this dish can be made to this point and refridgerated)
5. In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour until combined. Whisk in the milk and cook until thickened, stir in the nutmeg.
6. Spoon over the casserole. Top with Romano cheese and bake in a 350 oven for 45 minutes or until mixture starts to bubble.
