I often substitute black beans or pinto beans for the kidney beans; almost any type of bean works well. And I frequently throw in other vegetables such as green beans or corn or whatever might be on hand along with a little extra broth. And if I need to make it early in the day, I'll mix it together and then put in crockpot to keep warm until dinner time.

Ingredients:
- 12 ounces-weight - chicken or turkey sausage
- 3 cups - chicken broth
- 1/2 cups - uncooked small pasta
- 2 cups - zucchini
- 14 ounces-weight - canned stewed tomatoes
- 1 teaspoons - dried basil
- 1 teaspoons - dried oregano
- 15 ounces-weight - kidney beans
- 1/3 cups - asiago cheese
Directions:
Heat large saucepan over high heat. Add sausage, cook two minutes, stirring constantly. Add broth and pasta; bring to a boil. Cover, reduce heat, and simmer 4 minutes. Add zucchini and tomatoes; bring to a boil. Cover, reduce heat, and simmer 2 minutes. Stir in basil, oregano, and beans; cover and simmer for 3 minutes or until pasta and zucchini are tender. Sprinkle with cheese for serving.
