Never Fail Pie Crust

  1. 4 cups - flour
  2. 1 3/4 cups - shortening
  3. 2 tablespoons - sugar
  4. 2 teaspoons - salt
  5. 1/2 cups - very cold water
  6. 1 - egg
  7. 1 tablespoons - vinegar


Blend flour, shortening, sugar and salt together with pastry cutter until very crumbly.

In a small bowl, beat water, egg and vinegar thoroughly. Pour into flour mixture and work with hands until well blended. (Add a little flour if needed; dough will be sticky).

Flour board, take dough size of tennis ball; roll out on wax paper.

Fold and place in greased pie pan. Bake at 375 degrees F for 10 minutes or place in freezer.
