Mulled wine

Ingredients:

  1. 2 - Cinnamon sticks
  2. 2 - Star anise
  3. 5 - Juniper berries
  4. 1 teaspoons - Coriander seeds
  5. 5 - Cloves
  6. 1 bottles - Zinfandel wine
  7. - Peel of 1 orange
  8. - Peel of 1 lemon
  9. 1/2 cups - Brandy
  10. 1/4 cups - Cinnamon Simple Syrup See note below
  11. - Cinnamon sticks For garnish
  12. - Orange zest For garnish

Directions:

1. Combine cinnamon sticks, star anise, juniper berries, coriander seeds and cloves in a skillet. Toast until fragrant, 2-3 min. Combine spices in cheesecloth and tie to close.
2 Pour wine in a large pot and add orange and lemon peels, brandy and Cinnamon Simple Syrup. Heat it to 140-160 degrees and turn off.
3. Add spices in cheesecloth and allow to steep in wine for at least 1 hour or preferably overnight.
4. Remove spice bag or strain. Garnish with a cinnamon stick or orange zest.
5. Serve warm, not hot.
