Mimi's Chocolate Cake

Ingredients:

  1. 2 cups - flour
  2. 2 cups - sugar
  3. 2 sticks - butter
  4. 4 tablespoons - cocoa
  5. 1 cups - water
  6. 1/2 cups - buttermilk
  7. 1 teaspoons - baking soda
  8. 1 teaspoons - cinnamon
  9. 1 teaspoons - vanilla
  10. 2 - eggs
  11. 1 sticks - salted butter
  12. 4 tablespoons - cocoa powder
  13. 6 tablespoons - sweetmilk
  14. 1 boxes - powdered sugar
  15. 1 teaspoons - vanilla

Directions:

FOR CAKE:

Sift together the flour and sugar.

In a pan, melt butter and stir in cocoa powder, then add water. Bring to a hard boil.

Pour this mixture over the flour and sugar while hot, then beat well.

Mix together the buttermilk, baking soda, cinnamon, vanilla and eggs; add to the chocolate mixture.

Bake at 400 degrees F for 30 to 35 minutes (watch after 20 minutes).

FOR ICING:

In a pan, melt butter; stir in cocoa and sweetmilk. Heat to a boil and then add the powdered sugar and vanilla.

Pour over the cake while both are still hot.
