Ingredients:
- 2 tablespoons - olive oil
- 1 pieces - small onion chopped
- 1 cloves - garlic minced
- 1 tablespoons - sugar
- 15 ounces - tomatoes canned. You may use 14.5-16 oz. of this. Or you may use fresh native tomatoes. Blanch them, skin, seed and chop.
- 6 ounces - tomato paste canned
Directions:
Heat oil in a saucepan over medium-low heat. When hot, cook the onion and garlic until tender. Stir in sugar, basil, salt, tomatoes with its liquid and the tomato paste. Heat to boiling, stirring to break up the tomatoes. Reduce heat and cover pan. Simmer for 20 more minutes to blend the flavors, stirring occasionally.
