Number of Servings:
Ingredients:
- 4 tablespoons - unsalted butter at room temperature
- 6 tablespoons - dark brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons - ground cinnamon
- - All-purpose flour for work surface
- 1 - sheet frozen puff pastry thawed
- 1/3 cups - apple butter
- 2 ounces - cream cheese
- 3 tablespoons - whole milk
- 1/2 cups - confectioners’ sugar
- 1/2 teaspoons - vanilla extract
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a small bowl, cream 2 tablespoons butter and 2 tablespoons brown sugar and set aside. In another small bowl, combine remaining brown sugar and cinnamon.
2. On lightly floured work surface, use a rolling pin to roll puff pastry into a smooth 12- by 16-inch rectangle. Leaving about a ¼-inch border on all sides, evenly spread apple butter over dough, then sprinkle sugar-cinnamon mixture over top.
3. Starting with one long side, tightly roll dough into a long log, then place on floured work surface, seam-side down. Use a serrated knife to cut into 8 (2-inch) rounds.
4. Place 1 heaping teaspoon sugar-butter mixture into each of eight muffin tin cups. Place cinnamon rolls, spiral-side down, inside cups. Place muffin tin on a baking sheet and bake until pastry is flaky and golden and fragrant, 30 minutes. Remove from oven and let cool 3 minutes before transferring rolls to a serving platter.
5. Meanwhile, make glaze: In a bowl, whisk cream cheese, milk, confectioners’ sugar, remaining butter and vanilla until thoroughly combined. Drizzle glaze over warm rolls and serve.
