Ingredients:

  1. 1 pounds - lard no substitutions
  2. 3 - egg yolks
  3. 1 cups - evaporated milk
  4. 1/2 packages - yeast dissolved in 4 Tbsp milk
  5. 1/2 teaspoons - salt
  6. - fruit filling
  7. 4 1/2 cups - flour

Directions:

Work lard and flour together like pie crust.

Blend in the rest of the ingredients.

Add dissolved yeast, mix well.

Refrigerate overnight.

Roll dough onto sugared board.

Cut into 2” squares.

Fill with fruit filling.

Join two ends together.

Bake at 375 for 12-15 minutes.

Prune or apricot filling is commonly used. Cook cut up fruit in small amount of water until softened; sweeten to taste, and puree.
