Jambo Crisp

Ingredients:

  1. 3 pounds - jambos
  2. 1/2 cups - brown sugar
  3. 1/2 teaspoons - cinnamon
  4. 1/2 teaspoons - nutmeg
  5. 1/3 cups - all-purpose flour
  6. 1/3 cups - granulated sugar
  7. 1/3 cups - rolled oats
  8. 4 tablespoons - cold butter (half stick)
  9. 1/2 cups - chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

Directions:

Chop and core jambos. In a separate bowl, combine brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg; stir into jambos. Set aside.

In another bowl combine flour, sugar, and oats.

Cut butter into 8 pieces, and cut butter into flour until mixture looks like crumbs. Stir in nuts. Butter a 10 x 10-inch baking dish. Spread jambo mixture in bottom of baking dish then sprinkle with flour mixture.Bake at 375 degrees for 30 to 45 minutes, or until apples are tender and topping is lightly browned. Serve warm or at room temperature.
