Ina's Spicy Tofu Stir-Fry

Ingredients:

  1. 1 blocks - extra-firm tofu, pressed and cubed
  2. 2 tablespoons - cornstarch
  3. 1 tablespoons - vegetable oil
  4. 1 tablespoons - sesame oil
  5. 2 cloves - garlic, minced
  6. 1 tablespoons - ginger, minced
  7. 1 - red chili peppers, sliced (adjust to your spice preference)
  8. 2 tablespoons - soy sauce
  9. 1 tablespoons - rice vinegar
  10. 1 tablespoons - maple syrup or brown sugar
  11. 1 teaspoons - sesame seeds

Directions:

Press tofu: Press the tofu for at least 30 minutes to remove excess moisture.

Cut and coat tofu: Cube the tofu and toss it with the cornstarch until evenly coated.

Pan-fry tofu: Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the tofu and cook until golden brown and crispy on all sides, about 5-7 minutes per side.

Add flavor: Push the tofu to one side of the pan and add the sesame oil, garlic, ginger, and chili peppers. Cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant.

Sauce: Stir in the soy sauce, rice vinegar, and maple syrup. Toss to coat the tofu evenly.

Garnish and serve: Sprinkle sesame seeds and chopped cilantro over the tofu. Serve hot with rice or noodles.
