Hungarian Butter Horn Cookies

Ingredients:

  1. 1 packages - Dry Yeast
  2. 2 tablespoons - Water warm
  3. 4 cups - Flour sifted
  4. 1 1/2 cups - Butter
  5. 3 - Egg Yolks beaten
  6. 1/2 cups - Sour Cream
  7. 1 teaspoons - Vanilla
  8. 3 - Egg Whites
  9. 3/4 cups - Sugar
  10. 1 cups - Walnuts chopped
  11. 1 teaspoons - Vanilla

Directions:

Dissolve the Yeast in the Water. Sift Flour into mixing bowl. Cut in Butter. Blend in beaten Egg Yolks and Sour Cream. The dough will be quite stiff. Chill about 1 hour.
For the filling, beat Egg Whites, gradually adding Sugar until stiff. Fold in Walnuts and Vanilla.

Divide dough into 2 balls. Roll each into a 5-6 inch circle on a board sprinkled with confectioners sugar. Cut each circle into six parts. Spread a little filling on each wedge. Roll beginning at wide end, toward the smaller end. Put pointed side down on a greased cookie sheet.

Bake at 400F for 15 minutes. Sprinkle with confectioners sugar.
