Ham, Spinach and Pasta Gratin

Ingredients:

  1. 1/2 pounds - fusilli cooked
  2. 2 1/2 cups - grated Gruyere cheese divided
  3. 1 pounds - cooked ham (about 3 cups) chopped
  4. 1 - onion chopped finely
  5. 3 cloves - garlic minced
  6. 1 1/2 tablespoons - butter
  7. 2 packages - 10 oz. frozen spinach cooked, drained, squeezed dry
  8. 1/4 teaspoons - nutmeg
  9. 5 - large eggs
  10. 3 cups - milk
  11. 1 1/4 cups - fresh rye bread crumbs

Directions:

Place cooked pasta in greased casserole; sprinkle with 1/2 cup of cheese, and top with ham and 1 cup of cheese.

Saute onion and garlic; add spinach, nutmeg, salt and pepper. Cook 1 to 2 minutes. Pour over ham.

Whisk together eggs, milk, salt and pepper, and pour over gratin. Cover; bake 20 minutes.

In small bowl, toss 1 cup of Gruyere cheese with bread crumbs. Sprinkle over gratin. Broil until top is golden.
