Ham and Cheddar Quiche

Ingredients:

  1. - 9-inch unbaked pie shell
  2. 1 - egg white slightly beaten
  3. 1 cups - ground cooked ham
  4. 4 - eggs
  5. 1 1/2 cups - half-and-half OR light cream
  6. 1/4 teaspoons - salt
  7. 1/8 teaspoons - nutmeg
  8. - dash of pepper
  9. 5 slices - ham each 6 inches long, 1/4-inch wide
  10. 1 cups - grated cheddar cheese

Directions:

Brush inside of pie shell with egg white; refrigerate. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.

Spread ground cooked ham in bottom of pie shell.

In medium bowl, mix together eggs, half-and-half, salt, nutmeg and pepper, stirring just until combined. Slowly pour into pie shell.

Bake on low rack in oven for 35 to 40 minutes just until puffy and golden.

Remove from oven; arrange ham strips on top of quiche, and sprinkle cheddar cheese between ham strips. Return quiche to oven; bake 5 minutes more or just until cheese melts.

Remove to wire rack to cool for 10 minutes before serving.
