Grandmother Richardson's Custard Recipe

Ingredients:

  1. 1/2 gallons - milk
  2. 1 cups - sugar
  3. 2 1/2 tablespoons - flour
  4. 4 - eggs
  5. - lump of butter
  6. 2 teaspoons - vanilla
  7. 1 pinchs - nutmeg

Directions:

Heat milk in a double boiler.
Mix sugar and flour in a bowl; add beaten eggs to sugar and flour mixture and mix all well.
Pour heated milk over egg mixture and return all to double boiler; cook until it thickens.
Remove from heat and add butter, vanilla, and nutmeg.
