Golden Corn Bread

Ingredients:

  1. 1 cups - Aunt Jemima yellow corn meal
  2. 1 cups - sifted all-purpose flour
  3. 1/4 cups - sugar optional
  4. 4 teaspoons - baking powder
  5. 1/2 teaspoons - salt
  6. 1 - egg
  7. 1 cups - milk
  8. 1/4 cups - shortening softened

Directions:

Sift together corn meal, flour, sugar, baking powder and salt into a bowl.

Add egg, milk and shortening. Beat with rotary beater until smooth, about 1 minute.

Bake in greased 8-inch square baking pan in preheated hot oven (425 degrees F) for 20 to 25 minutes.
