Number of Servings:
Ingredients:
- 12 - large mixed apples (Gala, Granny Smith, Honeycrisp or Golden) peeled, cored, diced or sliced
- 3 cups - granulated sugar divided
- 1 1/2 teaspoons - ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoons - ground nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoons - ground cloves
Directions:
Place apple pieces along with half of sugar into a 6-quart crockpot. Cover and cook on HIGH for 6 hours.
Stir in cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and remaining sugar. Cover; cook on LOW until apples are very soft, about 4 hours.
Place half of apple mixture in blender; secure lid on blender, removing center piece to allow steam to escape (or tilting lid slightly if center does not remove - hold in place with one hand while blending). Place a clean towel over the center opening to prevent a mess.
Pulse in blender until smooth or desired texture; repeat with remaining apple mixture.
Cool completely. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 1 month.
This recipe made 2 mason jars (16 oz.) full of apple butter for me.
