Notes:
Another one of our family Christmas traditional recipes. Best when the purest, freshest ingredients are used. May use any nuts, but walnuts. Walnuts have too much natural oil in them & cookies will not turn out. These are also good with no nuts.

Number of Servings:
Ingredients:
- 1 cups - real butter
- 1/2 cups - brown sugar
- 1/4 teaspoons - salt
- 2 teaspoons - vanilla extract best if pure vanilla
- 2 1/4 cups - flour
- 1/2 cups - finely chopped pecans
- - powdered sugar for rolling
Directions:
Cream butter, sugar, salt and vanilla extract together. Gradually work in flour and mix well. Add nuts. Chill dough until stiff enough to handle and shape, (15 to 20 minutes)
Shape into crescents. Bake at 350 degrees F for 12-15 minutes. While cookie is warm, roll in sifted powdered sugar. You may find you need to roll the cookies a second time once they are cooled. Store in tightly closed container. Freeze well.
Variation: Shape into balls and top with some glazed cherry or pecan. Bake 20 minutes at 250 degrees F.
