Chocolate Cake with Chocolate Frosting

Ingredients:

  1. 2 cups - flour
  2. 2 cups - sugar
  3. 1 cups - margarine
  4. 1 cups - water
  5. 1/4 cups - cocoa
  6. 1/2 cups - buttermilk mixed with baking soda
  7. 1 teaspoons - baking soda
  8. 2 - eggs slightly beaten
  9. 1 teaspoons - vanilla
  10. 1/2 cups - margarine
  11. 3 1/2 tablespoons - cocoa
  12. 1/3 cups - milk
  13. 1 teaspoons - vanilla
  14. 1 cups - pecans chopped
  15. 1 pounds - powdered sugar sifted

Directions:

For cake:

Blend flour and sugar together in a large mixing bowl.

In a saucepan, bring to a boil the margarine, water and cocoa. Pour over the flour and sugar mixture and mix well.

Combine all other cake ingredients and add to the batter, mixing well.

Pour into greased and floured 13 by 9 by 2 inch baking pan and bake at 400 degrees F for 35 to 40 minutes or until done. Let cool 10 to 15 minutes while preparing frosting.

For Frosting:

Combine margarine, cocoa and milk in a saucepan; heat slowly and bring to a boil. Remove from stove and add powdered sugar, vanilla and pecans, stirring until mixed thoroughly. Pour over cake while still hot.
