My family is German, and this kuchen recipe is a German classic. It can be made with cherries, apples, or whatever fruit you prefer, but our default is cherry. Summery and wonderful.

Ingredients:
- 1 cups - sugar
- 3 cups - flour
- 1 teaspoons - baking powder
- 1 teaspoons - baking soda
- 1 cups - butter
- 1 tablespoons - vanilla
- 2 - eggs
- 1/2 cups - sour cream
- 1 cans - cherry pie filling
- 1/2 cups - sugar
- 1/2 cups - flour
- 3 1/2 tablespoons - butter
- 1/4 teaspoons - cinnamon
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350˚
Cream butter, sugar, and eggs.
Sift dry ingredients. Add alternately with sour cream.
Spread half the dough in an 8x8 pan, spread pie filling on dough, spoon rest of dough over filling. Cover top layer with streusel.
