    This is an easy, last-minute, put-together dessert. It is really great served with a small amount of milk poured over each serving or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Ingredients:

  1. cans - Unsweetened can of cherries in juice
  2. 3/4 cups - Sugar
  3. 1 cups - Flour
  4. 1/2 teaspoons - Baking Powder
  5. 1/4 teaspoons - Salt
  6. 1/3 cups - Sugar
  7. 1/4 cups - Shortening
  8. 2/3 cups - Milk

Directions:

Put cherries in round baking dish. Sprinkle with 3/4 c. sugar.
In separate bowl, mix together flour, baking powder, salt and 1/3 c. sugar.
Cut in shortening. Add milk. Stir.
Spoon flour mixture over cherries.
Bake in 400 degree oven about 30 minutes.
