Cheese Casserole

Ingredients:

  1. 6 slices - bread de-crusted
  2. 6 tablespoons - butter softened
  3. 1 cloves - garlic crushed
  4. 6 - eggs
  5. 1/2 cups - half and half
  6. 2 cups - Monterey Jack cheese grated
  7. 1/2 cups - dry white wine
  8. 1/2 cups - chicken broth - consomme
  9. 1/4 teaspoons - dry mustard
  10. 1/2 cups - chopped green chilies optional
  11. - cooked crumbled sausage optional, for variation
  12. - corn flakes optional, for variation

Directions:

Cream together butter and garlic and spread on bread slices. Place slices in baking dish buttered side down.

Beat eggs with cream; add remaining ingredients and pour over bread (if using sausage - crumble and spread over bread before pouring eggs over). Cover and refrigerate over night.

(If using variation with corn flakes, spread corn flakes over top of casserole and drizzle with melted butter before baking).

Bake at 350 degrees F for 30 minutes.
