Brownie Cake

Ingredients:

  1. 2 cups - flour
  2. 2 cups - sugar
  3. 1/2 cups - butter
  4. 1 cups - water
  5. 1/4 cups - cocoa
  6. 2 - eggs
  7. 1/2 cups - buttermilk or sour milk
  8. 1 teaspoons - vanilla
  9. 1 teaspoons - baking soda
  10. 1/4 pounds - butter (1/4 pound = 1 stick)
  11. 6 tablespoons - milk
  12. 1/4 cups - cocoa
  13. 1 pounds - powdered sugar
  14. 1 teaspoons - vanilla

Directions:

For Cake:
Sift together flour and sugar.

Boil the butter, water and cocoa together.

In a separate bowl, mix eggs, buttermilk, vanilla and baking soda; beat with rotary beater.

Pour hot mixture into flour/sugar mixture. Add egg/milk/vanilla/soda mixture.

Pour into jellyroll pan and bake for 20 minutes at 400 degrees F.

For Icing:
Boil butter, milk, and cocoa together. Pour over powdered sugar; add vanilla. Cool 5 minutes, then ice warm cake.
