Ingredients:

  1. 3/4 cups - vacuum packed wheat germ, regular
  2. 1 1/4 cups - flour
  3. 2 teaspoons - baking powder
  4. 1/3 cups - sugar
  5. 1/2 teaspoons - salt
  6. 1/3 cups - butter
  7. 1 - egg
  8. 1/2 cups - milk
  9. 1 tablespoons - melted butter
  10. 2 tablespoons - wheat germ
  11. 2 tablespoons - sugar
  12. 1 tablespoons - flour
  13. 1/2 teaspoons - cinnamon

Directions:

For Spicy Topping:
Combine all topping ingredients in a small bowl and set aside.

For Cake:
Mix wheat germ, flour, baking powder, sugar and salt. Cut in butter with pastry blender until mixture looks like coarse meal.

Beat egg and milk together with a fork. Pour into wheat germ mixture all at once and stir with fork to moisten dry ingredients.

Spread batter in greased and floured 9-inch round layer pan. Sprinkle with spicy topping, pressing in lightly.

Bake at 375 degrees F 25 to 30 minutes or until pick inserted in center comes out dry. Cool 10 minutes in pan, then carefully remove cake. Serve warm with butter or cream cheese.
