Ingredients:
- 2 cups - flour
- 1 tablespoons - baking powder
- 1 teaspoons - salt
- 1 tablespoons - white sugar
- 1/3 cups - shortening, margarine or butter
- 1 cups - milk
Directions:
Preheat oven to 425° F (220° C). In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt and sugar. Cut in shortening (or margarine or butter) with pastry blender or fork until mixture resembles coarse meal. Gradually stir in milk until dough pulls away from side of bowl.
Turn out onto floured surface and knead 10-15 times (adding a little more flour if needed). Pat or roll dough out to 1 inch thick. Cut biscuits with a large biscuit cutter (about 2 or 2-1/2 inches) or juice glass rim dipped in flour. Repeat until all dough is used.
Brush off excess flour and place biscuits onto ungreased baking sheet. Bake for 13-15 minutes or until edges begin to brown. Serve hot with butter.
