Baked Mozzarella and Tomato Basil Antipasti

  1. 2 cups - pasta sauce
  2. 1 cloves - garlic minced
  3. 8 ounces - fresh bocconcini mozzarella or mozzarella cheese cut into cubes
  4. 1 tablespoons - extra-virgin olive oil
  5. 1/4 cups - torn fresh basil leaves
  6. 1 - baguette
  7. - olive oil
  8. - shredded Parmesan cheese
  9. - crushed dried basil


Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. In four 12- to 16-ounce shallow ovenproof dishes (or one 1-1/2 quart dish) layer pasta sauce, garlic and mozzarella.

Bake 20 minutes or until mozzarella is melted.

Meanwhile, diagonally cut baguette into 1/2-inch slices. Lightly brush with additional olive oil. Broil 3 to 4 inches from heat for 2 minutes. Turn slices; sprinkle with Parmesan and dried basil. Broil 1 to 2 minutes or until lightly toasted.

Remove baked mozzarella from oven; drizzle 1 tablespoon olive oil over top of it, and sprinkle with fresh basil leaves. Serve with toasted baguette slices.
