Ingredients:

  1. 1 packages - yeast
  2. 1/2 cups - 115° water
  3. 1/2 cups - shortening
  4. 2 cups - buttermilk
  5. 5 cups - flour
  6. 3 tablespoons - sugar
  7. 3 teaspoons - baking powder
  8. 1 teaspoons - soda
  9. 1/2 teaspoons - salt
  10. 1 packages - yeast
  11. 1/2 cups - 115° water
  12. 1/2 cups - shortening
  13. 2 cups - buttermilk
  14. 5 cups - flour
  15. 3 tablespoons - sugar
  16. 3 teaspoons - baking powder
  17. 1 teaspoons - soda
  18. 1/2 teaspoons - salt

Directions:

Dissolve yeast in water. Sift dry ingredients. Cut shortening into dry ingredients. Add buttermilk to yeast mixture, then add liquid to dry ingredients. Stir, cover, and chill. Cut about 1/4-1/2" thick. Place in 400° oven for 12-15 minutes.
