The Best Chili

Ingredients:

  1. 2 pounds - lean ground beef (or desired meat)
  2. 1 - onion diced
  3. 1 - jalapeno seeded and finely diced
  4. 4 cloves - garlic minced
  5. 2 1/2 tablespoons - chili powder divided, or to taste
  6. 1 teaspoons - cumin
  7. 1 - green bell pepper seeded and diced
  8. 1 cans - 14.5 oz. crushed tomatoes
  9. 1 cans - 19 oz. kidney beans drained, rinsed
  10. 1 cans - 14.5 oz. diced tomatoes with juice
  11. 1 1/2 cups - beef broth
  12. 1 cups - beer (or broth)
  13. 1 tablespoons - tomato paste
  14. 1 tablespoons - brown sugar optional
  15. - salt and pepper to taste
  16. - sour cream, diced red or green onion, cheese, jalapenos, cilantro, avocado and lime wedges, tortilla optional, for serving with

Directions:

Combine ground beef with 1-½ tablespoons of the chili powder. In a large soup pot, brown ground beef with onion, jalapeno and garlic. Drain off any fat.

Add in remaining ingredients and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer uncovered 45-60 minutes or until chili has reached desired thickness.

Top with cheddar cheese, green onions, cilantro or other favorite toppings.

Optional toppings: sour cream, red or green onion, cheese, jalapenos, cilantro, avocado & lime wedges, tortilla chips
