Strudelki (Russian Strudel)

Ingredients:

  1. 3 cups - flour sifted

Directions:

Dough
2 sticks butter, melted
8 oz sour cream
3 cup flour, sifted + extra for board
1/2 tsp bc soda and splash of vinegar

Mix butter + sour cream; add baking soda with vinegar + flour; make soft dough. Separate into 4 balls. Wrap in plastic and refrigerate for an hour

Filling
Sugar
Jam
Chopped nuts
Any dried fruit
Lemon zest (optional)
Cinnamon (optional)

Take 1 ball of dough and roll it out thinly but not so thin that unworkable. Into rectangle. Take cooking oil/butter and splash onto your hands and make dough a little greasy. Sprinkle a little sugar onto dough and then put jam (not a lot; amount that you’d put on toast). Sprinkle nuts and raisins. Put as much as you want but be sure you can roll. Do with other 3 balls

Put parchment on baking pan. Roll strudels. Cover with egg wash. Sprinkle brown sugar on top. Take a knife and mark out pieces; try not to cut through (you have to do this so you can cut more easily).

Bake at 350 for 40-45 mins.

Let it cool and cut when it’s a little warm.
