Ingredients:
- 2 cups - Bisquick
- 1 cups - sugar
- 1 cups - walnuts chopped
- 1 cups - milk
- 1 cups - oil
- 1 teaspoons - orange flavoring (OR fresh orange rind and juice amounts below)
- 2 tablespoons - or 3 Tbsp orange rind or the rind of 2 oranges grated
- 1/4 cups - orange juice
- 4 - eggs
- 1 1/2 teaspoons - baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoons - baking soda
- 1 1/2 teaspoons - cinnamon
- 1 teaspoons - nutmeg (OR 1/2 tsp, as desired)
- 1 teaspoons - cloves (OR 1/2 tsp, as desired)
- 1 cups - sugar
- 1 cups - water
- 1 - cinnamon stick
- 1 cups - cocoa powder
- 1 cups - granulated sugar
- 4 tablespoons - cornstarch
- 1 cups - water
- 6 tablespoons - margarine
- 1 dashes - salt
- 2 tablespoons - vanilla
Directions:
For cake - combine all cake ingredients; batter will seem runny, but it will puff and bake.
Grease pan. Bake at 350 degrees F for about 30 minutes.
To make syrup:
Combine sugar, water and cinnamon stick; boil and stir until thickened into a syrup. Pour over cake when baked.
Chocolate Icing:
Combine sugar, cocoa and cornstarch first. Add water in a steady stream. Place mixture on stove over medium-low heat, and cook, stirring constantly. Add margarine and stir in salt. Bring to a boil; boil for 3 minutes, stirring constantly. Add vanilla last.
Spread this quickly over cake as soon as it is cooled.
