Grasshopper Bars

Ingredients:

  1. 1 1/2 cups - flour
  2. 2 cups - sugar
  3. 3/4 cups - cocoa powder
  4. 2 tablespoons - cocoa powder
  5. 1 1/2 teaspoons - salt
  6. 1 teaspoons - baking powder
  7. 1 1/2 cups - butter
  8. 1 - egg
  9. 2 teaspoons - vanilla
  10. 2 tablespoons - corn syrup
  11. 2 cups - coarsely chopped toasted nuts
  12. 2 cups - 10x (powdered) sugar
  13. 1/4 cups - butter
  14. 2 tablespoons - milk
  15. 1 teaspoons - mint extract
  16. - green food coloring
  17. 2 squares - unsweetened chocolate
  18. 2 tablespoons - butter

Directions:

For bars, sift together flour, sugar, cocoa, salt and baking powder.

Cream together butter, corn syrup, eggs and vanilla. Add dry ingredients. Fold in chopped nuts.

Butter a 9-x-13-inch pan. Pour mixture into pan. Bake 40 to 45 minutes at 350 degrees F until edges are slightly firm and center is soft. Cool.

For mint frosting, mix frosting ingredients together and spread over cooled bars; place in freezer for 15 to 20 minutes.

For chocolate glaze, melt together the chocolate and butter. Spread over top of bars. Put in refrigerator to harden.
