Ingredients:
- 1/2 cups - butter
- 1/2 cups - light bown sugar packed
- 3/4 cups - granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoons - vanilla
- 2 - eggs
- 2 cups - sifted flour
- - salt
- 1/4 teaspoons - baking soda
- 7 1/4 ounces - pkg. pitted dates
- 1 cups - chopped nuts
Directions:
Cream butter, add brown sugar, 1/2 c gran sugar, vanilla & egg beat until light. Add sifted dry ingredients. Combine until firm enough to roll.
To make filling: cut dates in small pieces, bring to boil with remaining 1/4 c sugar, dash salt & 1/3 c hot water. Simmer for 5min, stirring often, add nuts, cool.
Halve dough, roll each half on floured wax paper, into a 9x12 in. rectangle. Spread with filling; roll up tightly from end. Use ruler to make a tight and neat wheel. Wrap in paper; chill overnight.
Slice 1/8" thick.
Bake in oven 375 for 10 min.
