Cookie Jar Gingersnaps

Ingredients:

  1. 2 cups - Flour
  2. 2 teaspoons - Baking soda
  3. 1/2 teaspoons - Salt
  4. 1 cups - Sugar
  5. 1/4 cups - Molasses
  6. 1 tablespoons - Ground ginger
  7. 1 teaspoons - Cinnamon
  8. 3/4 cups - Shortening
  9. 1 - Egg
  10. - Sugar This is for rolling cookie dough balls in before baking.

Directions:

Mix flour, ginger, soda, cinnamon and salt together in a small bowl.
Cream shortening. Add sugar. Beat in egg and molasses.
Sift dry ingredients over creamed mixture and blend well.
Form teaspoonsful of dough into small balls. Roll in sugar to cover outside.
Place 2" apart on ungreased cookie sheet and flatten slightly.
Bake in 350 degree oven for 12-15 minutes, or until tops are slightly rounded, crackly and lightly browned.
