Ingredients:

  1. 5 pounds - boneless chuck roast
  2. 2 tablespoons - fat (I use Crisco)
  3. 2 cups - water
  4. 1 1/2 cups - beer
  5. 1 cups - canned tomatoes OR tomato sauce
  6. 1 tablespoons - vinegar
  7. 2/3 cups - chopped onion
  8. 2 tablespoons - sugar
  9. 2 teaspoons - salt
  10. 1 teaspoons - cinnamon
  11. 1/2 teaspoons - ginger
  12. 1 - large bay leaf

Directions:

Brown meat on all sides in fat.

Combine remaining ingredients and pour over meat. Simmer, covered, 3-1/2 hours or until tender.

Thicken broth as desired.
